New residents moving into Texas, who have a valid driver license from their home state, have 90 days after entry into the state to secure a Texas driver license. If you have never been licensed or have an EXPIRED out-of-state license, you will be required to pass both the written and driving exams, in addition to a vision test

The METRO Rail light rail service provides transportation throughout both Downtown and Midtown. The rail line's service spans from the University of Houston-Downtown, on the northern border of downtown, all the way to Reliant Park, home of Reliant Stadium and the Houston Texans. The rail line includes stops in the Museum District, Texas Medical Center and Rice University.

An alternative way to commute in our infamous gridlock is by simply sharing the ride with others.
Metropolitan Transit Authority and Texas Department of Transportation provide commuters with convenient Park & Ride services and facilities. Each is designed to save you time, money and encourage stress-free commuting.

METRO currently operates 26 Park & Ride lots across Harris County, many offering direct access to the HOV network. TxDOT also has numerous Park & Pool locations throughout the region that are ideal for forming a vanpool or carpool.
You can leave your car at no charge* at any of the facilities to ride on the bus or in a vanpool or carpool.
